The Phoenix Package

In 2008, Accor North America embarked on a new design and purchasing program for its Motel 6 economy guestrooms. The redesign culminated in the Phoenix Package incorporating more efficient, sustainable furnishings. Throughout the redesign, Quiltcraft worked closely with Accor North America to provide a green room at Motel 6’s traditional low consumer cost.

Efforts include replacing Motel 6’s signature quilted bedspreads with Quiltcraft’s unquilted coverlets. The coverlets minimize washing and drying time, and thereby conserve energy. Installation of Quiltcraft window treatments increase energy efficiency. The all-new design also incorporates wood-effect flooring made from unused industry scraps, fluorescent light bulbs in all rooms, low flow shower heads, high efficiency toilets, and high efficiency heating and air-conditioning units.

These efforts, supported by Quiltcraft and its forward thinking product lines, contributed to Motel 6’s designation as the first LEED certified economy lodging property.
